Makoto Shinkai (Weathering With You) fans, gather up! Treat yourself to the magnificent rain-flecked Makoto Shinkai Movie Exhibition with a special cafe menu that’s coming to Tokyo. Are you ready to chomp down these exciting special menus?
The showcase will provide some fun and educational displays, explaining the meteorological phenomena that appear in the movie. The most interesting part of this exhibition is, there are two cafés inside the Matsuya department store in Tokyo’s posh Ginza district which will be also taking a part in this Weathering With You event. Yes! You can order some themed dishes featuring the movie.
This is a virgin mojito containing chia seeds to resemble the sky fish from the movie, with mint leaves to resemble fluttering leaves during the scene where Hina flies into the sky through the rooftop shrine.
Do you remember the inhabited world of the anvil cloud from the movie? Dry ice and cotton candy are used to recreate the clouds, along with some sweetness of matcha powder sprinkled on top of the cotton candy. You will taste the ice cream behind the cotton candy. Such an interesting dessert, right?
The raindrop-shaped parfait is designed to represent the shortcake which Hina loves in the movie. It has some layers of sponge cake, strawberry jelly, cereals and ice cream all leaving a refreshing taste.
Designed to recreate the world above the clouds, this dish features a tea-flavoured chiffon cake which has a light and fluffy texture. The cake can be enjoyed with strawberries and whipped cream along with matcha powder on top, looking like the cumulonimbus cloud from the movie.
These fruity drinks look so pretty, right? The most interesting part from this drink is that the colour of each flavour will transform once the lemon juice is added. The Mango drink will turn yellow, the Strawberry drink will turn red, and the Peach drink will turn orange. How cool is that? Go science!
The Anvil Cloud Pancake is a stack of pancakes filled with layers of salad. On top of this pancake, there is a meringue which looks like the anvil cloud poured with matcha powder.
Hina’s Dessert Plate is a mixed platter of strawberry cake, chiffon cake, and a black choker-shaped jelly to represent Hina’s character from the movie since she loves wearing a black choker.
The blue soda represents the blue sky, while a layer of cream and cotton candy garnish on top of the soda resemble the clouds. This drink is basically to remind you of the beautiful scenery from the blue sky in the Weathering With You movie. You will also find a lemon jelly deep inside this Blue Sky Cream Soda.
Besides the desserts to be enjoyed, there are also more than 300 Weathering With You merchandise products available for purchase. This also includes the exclusive items and products from Weathering With You Exhibition made in collaboration with famous designers and brands.
