How many limited edition Frappuccinos are available in your local Starbucks right now? One or two, right? We look forward to the monthly rotating choices of Frappuccinos all over the world, much like we look forward to the monthly Japanese snacks coming in a TokyoTreat box!

But Starbucks Japan took it to the next level! They just launched 47 new Frappuccinos, just in time for the Tokyo Olympics. Now you can head to your favorite coffee shop chain in Japan and try a new drink.

But there’s a catch. The only way to try all 47 drinks is to visit all of Japan’s 47 prefectures.

Each of the 47 Japanese prefectures’ Starbucks stores have released their own unique drink that is limited to their stores in their local regions. They even feature famous ingredients that are local specialties, truly representing the area in which the drinks were created.

The campaign has been named “Jimoto Frappuccino,” jimoto literally being the Japanese word for local. But exactly how different are all of these unique drinks? Let’s do a deep dive into some of our favorites from the Jimoto Starbucks Frappuccino collection you can find based on the region.

#1 Hokkaido Tokibi Cream Frappuccino

Hokkaido loves corn! Famed for its corn, Hokkaido used it as a major ingredient in its drink, blending it with another speciality that it’s famous for, milk. Then it’s covered with white chocolate syrup, crunchy corn flakes and topped with whipped cream!

#2 Aomori Apple & Strawberry Frappuccino

Aomori apples are loved by people all over Japan and the world. So it’s natural that Starbucks would want to highlight them as one of their blended drinks. Combining milk, strawberry and apple, Aomori is bringing it with the fruity goodness.

#8 Ibaraki Melon Cream Frappuccino

Ibaraki is the number 1 producer of melons in Japan, something Starbucks wanted to proudly promote in this tasty drink! Blending white chocolate and melon, they created a refreshing drink for summer.

#9 Tochigi Shocking Chocolate Frappuccino

Based on a local thunder god myth, Tochigi Starbucks wants to shock and delight! Combining chocolate and popping candy in this frappe, we get a chance to taste a little lightning!

#12 Chiba Mitarashi Dango Frappuccino

Not only famous for Tokyo Disneyland, Chiba is also famous for soy sauce! That is where the inspiration for their Mitarashi Dango flavor came from. Mitarashi is a sweet and salty soy sauce based topping for dango! This tasty and creamy frappe is layered with the delicious sauce!

#13 Tokyo Coffee Jelly Frappuccino

Tokyo is home to an awesome and unique cafe culture, and this creamy coffee creation is inspired by the popular dessert coffee jelly! Wanna hear what we have to say about this Frappe? Learn more with us!

#14 Kanagawa Summer Blue Frappuccino

People travel from all over Japan to look at the beautiful ocean in Kanagawa, and this drink perfectly captures it! Using blue butterfly peach tea, the drink becomes blue. And the refreshing citrus sauce brings a welcome summer feeling.

Just like Starbucks Japan's creations, there's no end to the interesting flavors available year-round in a TokyoTreat Japanese snack box!

#16 Toyama Watermelon Frappuccino

Toyama is the prefecture to visit if you like watermelon! And Starbucks is here with plenty of watermelon goodness, combining it with chocolate sauce, matcha powder and passion fruit tea for a fruity summer treat!

#17 Ishikawa Hojicha Frappuccino

Simple and elegant, Starbucks took Ishikawa’s famous Hojicha, grown for hundreds of years, and created a simple blend. No fuss but maximum impact.

#18 Fukui Puffed Rice Frappuccino

Koshihikari rice originated in Fukui prefecture, but is now grown all over Japan, the United States and Australia. Starbucks chose to honor Fukui’s famous rice by puffing it up to create a crunchy and tasty white chocolate and matcha drink.

#19 Yamanashi Grape and White Chocolate

Yamanashi’s vineyards produce some of the best grapes in Japan! So of course they wanted to feature them in this fruity and sweet frappe featuring white chocolate!

#23 Aichi Anko and Coffee Frappuccino

Ogura is a popular toast and red bean paste snack that has been popular in Japan for decades. Starbucks honors this with a red bean paste based frappe with coffee, chocolate chips and whipped cream accents for a rich treat.

#26 Kyoto Matcha Kinako Frappuccino

Kyoto is the epicenter of traditional culture in Japan – and it has an elegant and luxurious food culture. Starbucks honors with a rich matcha and roasted soy bean flour worked into their creamy drink.

#27 Osaka Lots of Fruit and Cream Frappuccino

Osaka is the home of mixed juice in Japan, which was originally created as a response to wasted fruits in the post war period. Starbucks chose that as their inspiration for this drink, blending together apples, mango, passionfruit, peach and banana, topping it off with a delicious mango and chocolate sauce.

#35 Yamaguchi Sesame Matcha Frappuccino

Using black sesame and matcha, this drink creates a unique and beautiful dark color in the cream. Sesame over time has been used for many purposes, from medicine to cooking, and now it is a must-try feature in this Starbucks drink.

#47 Okinawa Chinsuko Vanilla Caramel Frappuccino

Starbucks Japan took inspiration from Ryukyu (traditional Okinawan) culture for this drink. Chinsuko is a much loved shortbread-like biscuit that has been a favorite souvenir for travelers to Okinawa for decades. It also has plenty of salty and sweet goodness mixed up in the drink thanks to plenty of caramel sauce.

There are so many drinks to enjoy when you’re in Japan this month. But the campaign ends in early August (8/3/2021). If you want to try them all then you need to act quickly!
