The Y generation is the group of people most impacted by anime culture ever. Thanks to animation, especially Japanese animation, we learned important values like honor, respect, friendship. But the aspect that influenced us during the troubled time of adolescence, more than the values and the morality, are the 2D girls (or boys)! Here's a breakdown of the anime characters that hunted our youth and probably are still hunting us now.
10. Bulma (Dragonball)
Bulma messed us up when we were kids. All the double entendre, the sexy scenes and the allusions made most of younger millennial confused letting them with unsolved questions about our psyche, until we realized that was our first crush toward an anime girl.
9. Winry (FMA)
Winry is a more rational crush. She's lovely and strong. She is the perfect girlfriend, with a great personality and a genuine cuteness.
8. Revy (Black Lagoon)
Revy is a badass. You just want to follow her to whatever adventure she's heading to (legal or illegal). She's the spice we need in our repetitive life.
7. Re-l (Ergo Proxy)
Goth girls are the best! And this anime is the celebration of cyber goth in every aspect. The anime itself is great and the Re I is the kind of obscure character that is gonna steal your heart and make it disappear in a black hole of mystery and darkness.
6. Nana Osaki (NANA)
If you hare a metalhead or a rockhead Nana should be at the first place of the list. She is the secret dream of every former emo kid of our generation. Impossible to hate.
5. Fujiko (Lupin III)
The sexiest and most obnoxious of the list by far. She is basically the crazy ex that shows up just to mess your life and make it more complicated, but she will help you too sometimes. Her unpredictability is paradoxically a plus.
4. San (Princess Mononoke)
San. She makes us want to leave our job, the city, the pollution and the concrete and join her in her mission to protect the forest, living in the wild forever with her.
3. Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop)
Faye is a little too a pragmatist, in love with money and guns. But we still adore her. She knows how to turn every day into an adventure and she has one of the sexiest body of the characters in the list.
2. One of the 5 Sailors
Your favorite sailor can tell a lot about your personality. Do you prefer the funny Sailor Moon? The smart Sailor Mercury? The fiery Sailor Mars? The strong Sailor Jupiter? The beautiful Sailor Venus? Too bad, you cannot pick them all…
1. Rei/Asuka (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
The final Anime Girl clash! People have lost their best friends because of their preference about the best Eva girl. People have suffered with Shinji, and empathized with him for the whole series, being in the middle of this pendulum between Rei and Asuka. But a decision must be taken. Let us know your favorite anime girl in the comments!
